Blue, I don't know whether you said that tongue in cheek or not. I think that there is sufficient evidence to indicate that nobody knows what historical Jesus did or did not say. But if you read the Old Testament you will find ample evidence of what people believe God was telling people to do or doing himself. So to claim this as a source of morality is a bit odd, don't you think. We could go through a list of the Ten Commandments and find God breaking virtually every single one, and encouraging people to do the same.
