Hello Joe,
;-) Always interesting things to speculate on ...

I'm not sure that I would call it Artificial Intelligence, since this brings up all sorts of preconceived notions ... but yes ... I would agree and speculate that the mind is a huge network that has evolved to be able to process a wide range of stimulus provided by itself, and numerous external "sensors" ... eyes, ears, other nerves, etc. Of course IQ simply becomes one perspective on a way to measure a particular aspect of the minds abilities. IQ tests are normally biased towards a particular community of people and their perspective on what makes the mind good for a particular purpose in modern society. But the minds evolved and developed abilities are no doubt directly tied to the stimulus that is provided during it's development.

This is a very interesting area. I haven't studied the area of sleep enough to know what we have found, but I would think that this is a good analogy. Of course since we don't know the exact structure of the brains "computing" architecture, it is difficult to guess the exact "maintenence" processing that is required. But I'm sure that there are other people who have been looking at this area deeply ... I would speculate that you are on the right track! ;-)

Ah ... now an area that I really like! ;-)
There are two additional books that have helped to make me think about this area:
Out of Control - Kevin Kelly SnowCrash - Neil Stephenson(?)
I actually believe that we are all part of a larger "human organism" which is developing on earth. I have talked about this with friends for some time. I actually believe that "The Internet is the developing nervous system, of the human organism on earth."
So government and religion become more the "insincts" of the human organism, rather than the OS. They are what cause certain societal reactions to stimulus ...
On a side note, I talked with some folks from the Pentagon once ... they liked this idea ... if you think about it, the military forces of the earth become a form of "immune system" for the human organism helping to destroy or remove "cancers" that might harm the organism ... ;-)
> I must be a little bored to be coming up with these questions.
Not at all ... I find this the way to do some high level analysis that helps to define potential directions of society and global experiences. This then helps me to try and predict a possible future direction, and then which companies I should invest in that will continue to lead us in that direction ... ;-)
