Chuzzlewit, the Gospels (the core of the New Testament) relate the story of Jesus's life up to and including the Crucifixion (and Resurrection, if you are into that). So I don't quite get your point about what he did or did not do after the Resurrection.

And as you know, Moses, not Jesus, brought down the Ten Commandments. Jesus' emphasis in the Gospels was not on honoring your father and your mother, but on loving your fellow man -- and woman -- in general. That was the point of his remark. (Or one of them.)
