The reason for the later earnings release at fiscal year-end is that companies do not release earnings until the auditors sign-off. The release of earnings is unrelated to the amount of paperwork it takes at the end of the year (that's why they get 90 days to file the Annual Report). At quarter-end the auditors do very limited procedures, if anything, and earnings can be released much sooner. Having said this, a 2 1/2 month wait for the earnings release is a long time. For example, the Company I work for releases earnings three weeks after quarter ends and 5 weeks at year-end. The delay at Osicom likely means it takes alot of time to close the books and get the auditors to sign-off.
