I don't know what Christ actually said, JBE posted some interesting links to stuff on the topic (which I haven't read yet). Without a time machine, we will never know.
I am not joking about being a Christian, although I don't care to get in your face about it. I gather that you are not, which is fine by me. Sidney is a Christian, so he and I have a lot of things in common, one of which is a belief in God which is colored by Christianity, and is very different from the God of the Old Testament. I am not kidding when I say that Christ never told anyone to kill anyone, He told us to love each other. When you talk about Sidney's God, you are not talking about the Old Testament God, you are talking about the God whose Son was born on Earth and told us to love each other. That's just a point of fact.
By the way, I don't think God ever committed adultery, nor theft, nor lied, nor all the other stuff, although there was a lot of smiting going on in the old days supposedly in the name of God. There is still a lot of smiting, and people believe that God is on their side, but I think Christ would disagree. |
