As I recall, nobody "let" Rodia build the Watts Towers, it was a violation of the local ordinances of the times, but no one stopped him, either. He just did it, and everyone got out of his way. If I had to represent someone like that, I'd have some pretty good arguments in his favor, based on the First Amendment. Some places have aesthetic restrictions (color, style), but most don't.

I was thinking, maybe your posts to DAR are kinda like a Watts Tower? Ever think of it that way? After you write them, do you save them, or just post them and let them fall where they will? Not just you, of course, all of us. Someday someone is going to be astonished at the effort, but it feels like joy to me.
