Jim,
I wonder what the impact would be if Intel took one of their fabs that was on hold and tried making boxes.
Intel has produced complete PCs and servers in the past, for companies that didn't want to do the manufacturing. Sony was, maybe still is one. These boxes say Intel inside, but not outside. John Hull, I believe it was from Intel, has posted here saying Intel would not go into the box business, ostensibly because they would PO essentially ALL of their chip customers. WRT the servers that were all Intel, I have resold them, just slapping skins and company logo on them (Oh, and some software), so I know it happens. They had loaded motherboard, disks, power supplies, the shooting match. Turnkey, period.
