At this time when many investors are salivating over the next Internet-related companies to declare themselves as publicly traded entities on the stock market, critics are decrying the lack of information regarding these relative unknowns. Some companies claiming to be the next big Internet-related stock have little or no earnings, but create a strong Web influence zone, fast growing Web community and solid technology based e-commerce marketplace.
Meanwhile many others feel that by writing of an exciting intended long-term business plan and using artificial tricks, such as adding ".com" or other similar, but less common measures, will be well enough to attract a greater amount of attention from potential investors.
Sometimes both of these approaches work well... But what criteria can investors use to discern between these two types?
Companies with strong Web presence are most likely to have a strong brand name with Web consumers, leading to an increase in Web traffic and online sales. For the most part, those with strong Internet brands finally -- often after a period of time -- begin to correlate with a strong market capitalization.
Internet Valley Inc. (http://www.internetvalley.com) recently published a table comparing Internet IPOs to more-established Web-based companies to display which of them held strong levels of Web influence, and which do not. Please feel free to take a look at or most recent data, and maybe it can add a little help to the road that so far has been driven without a map.
