Remember in the early '70's when all of the american automakers laughed at the "cheap japanese s**tboxes" and made all the same arguments - "you get what you pay for" etc. 5 years later they were laughing out of the other side of their faces. The reality was that the japanese offered better quality and a better value at a lower price. There is nothing substandard about the low-price machines, they do an excellent job for their target customers. I bought a machine for my daughter recently at under $600 and it was nicer than anything I have, and I have a lot of expensive machinery.
