Cheech,

I intended to keep out of this discussion, but the fact that this is your children's education money drags me into it.

For a bit of a reality check here,

1. Phentolamine has been around for ages. It has this little problem in that it can cause severe hypotension (low blood pressure). This side effect is particularly problematic in patients with vascular problems (i.e. patients with erectile dysfunction). It never was a reliable anti-hypertensive because of its unpredictable effects.

2. The trials that ZONA has done show you already what the drug can do. A 62% drug rate vs 42% placebo rate is pathetic. These patients are barely impaired. Compare it VIVUS or Caverject studies, these have 10% placebo rates.

3. Now think rationally about it. Will the FDA really want to approve a potentially lethal drug for a non-life threatening condition?

4. The very administration issue is, in fact, a problem, NOT a benefit. What is to prevent patients from taking 2 or 3 or 4 doses of VASOMAX, after all isn't more better? The oral route is easier and more likely to result in overdoses.

Be careful. ZONA may go to 30 or maybe 100. But VASOMAX will not be approved and ZONA will end up at zero.
