rudedog...gm arrogant...japanese so good.. michael dell business model is japanese...even if not admitted...japanese used to their benefit bto/jit...same has enabled dell to aptly joust with the arrogance of pfeiffer, gerstner and platt...all who succumbed to the lure of a market that they were not able to compete in.....there is a place in every market for different strata of products...the down side of an e-machine to a large user is the inability to service the overall needs of same...ibm for years commanded premiums above market for their pcs...solely on perception and brand name...they and cpq and hwp made the mistake of sitting side by side on a shelf in a retailer who has no loyalty in selling anything specific, as long as he sells something to reduce his inventory... wise management knows its limits...and if and when they decide to enter a low end market, they do it with a specific purpose product, instead of scaling down an existing product...ala mercedes "c class".. good luck, comments always appreciated..ed a.
