<<< MOT was to buy a private company called "BE", according to NY Times. BE makes a brand new operating system, mainly for MACS. If MOT brings out the new fast modem, and if MOT buys "BE," would MOT really compete with USRX?

On the surface, it would seem as though USRX and MOT are going after two different markets. >>>

My opinion is that Motorola is a fairly diverse company. Purchasing "BE" has nothing to do with MOT's intent on competing with USR.

BE (company from Canada/ Quebec?) was one of the many OS's that Apple was thinking of utilizing for the MAC. But looks like Monsieur Job's got more than lucky in offloading his NeXT software to Apple.

MOT is big, they can pursue any other ventures they want, and still compete head on with USR if they wanted to. I think they should just stick with their Semi's and Cellular Phone Though. =)
