Wall Street Journal on Friday had an article about D. Akerson receiving a $14.8 million bonus if the company is bought out; he also received options on one million shares valued at $16.8 million. For an exec who only made $800,000 in salary and bonus in 1998, it appears that ol' Dan has "mucho" incentive to drive a hard bargain for higher stock prices, as well as push for a takeover. In the $50-$60 takeover range, he appears to be in line for a major payoff for his hard work in putting this company on the track to success.
