The futures are down that hard solely because of Compaq? Rock, I don't remember the futures being down this much after the Dell fiasco. And it's not like other companies don't warn about earnings. My guess is probably a grab bag of things. CPQ, Kosovo, Russian threats and whatever else anybody can think of. So, in essence, yes, maybe an excuse for profit taking. It is rather disturbing to see the futures down this much though. Looks way overdone IMO.
