INTERNET (esecurities.W) April 12, 1999 - Get the "F" out of NKCIF.

"Getting the "F" out of NASDAQ Stocks..."

"No, we're not recommending that investors abandon their Canadian stocks that are cross-listed on NASDAQ or trade only on NASDAQ, but there has been a change in NASDAQ policy that has led a growing number of Canadian companies to change their trading symbol there.

NASDAQ used to require that non-US firms have an "F" (or, in some cases, "C") at the end of their symbol to indicate "foreign". We haven't looked into the official reasons for them reversing this policy, but we suspect that many "foreign" companies treated this as a stigma of sorts.

But, whatever the reasons, Canadian companies can now change their symbols if they wish, and some have been quick to do so..."
