Therefore they must be INSTALLED on ALL THREE SETUPS to guarantee they will run every night despite which configuration your booted into at that point in time.

I am a little confused. Why is a second drive different than an extended partition or a second drive that does not have a boot capability? Isn't it just another drive letter to the backup software? Can't you just tell the program to back up files on the C, D, E and F drives?
