Siemens, Omnipoint enter infrastructure deal From RCR: rcrnews.com BOCA RATON, Fla.—Siemens Information and Communication Networks Inc. and Omnipoint Communications signed a $200 million deal under which Siemens will supply Global System for Mobile communications infrastructure to Omnipoint for the expansion of Omnipoint's personal communications services network in New York, said the companies. Omnipoint will install Siemens' D1900 GSM Mobile System which includes high-capacity switches, base stations and Siemens' Intelligent Network product, INXpress. My comments: To me, this cam out of the blue. I am very surprised, but may show that Siemens have finally responded with a decent product -something they have seriously lacked of late in the mobile arena and in the US as well!!
