Fiscal 1998 Results Reflect Completion of Restructuring

TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 12, 1999--"NewKidCo International Inc. (OTC BB:NKCIF - news; TSE:NKC - news) today reported year-end 1998 financial results that reflect the completion of its restructuring program, and it estimated a profitable first quarter from its continuing line of business, children's video-game software based on popular licensed characters.

The estimated preliminary financial results for the first quarter ended March 31, 1999 from continuing operations - sales of approximately CND $10.0 million and a net profit of approximately CND $1.6 million - reflect the shipment of five new video game titles: Elmo's Number Journey(TM), Elmo's Letter Adventure(TM) and Hello Kitty's Cube Frenzy(TM), for the PlayStation® game console, and Elmo's ABCs(TM) and Elmo's 123s(TM) for Game Boy Color®. Also during the quarter, the Company changed its name from SoftQuad International Inc. to reflect its new business focus..."
