Yup. 240 of them in the Prius pack. Manufacture of cylindrical cells is highly automated and there don't seem to be many producers of medium sized prismatics.

Tom Hoff: You asked what a "D" cell is going for. I don't know. My Digikey catalog shows a 4/3 "a" from Panasonic for $7.38 each. These are 3700 mah at the C/5 rate. A carton of 540 cells is $2389.50.

Say, isn't that interesting: 540 cells x 3700 mah x 1.2 volts = 2.397 kwh. $2389.5 / 2.397 = $996.87 per kwh.
