Spectrian Anticipates Lower Revenue and
Greater Losses Than Expected for Fourth
Quarter of Fiscal 1999

Business Wire - April 12, 1999 08:10

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 12, 1999--Spectrian Corporation (Nasdaq:SPCT) today announced that it expects to report lower revenues than expected, ranging from $20 to $22 million, for the fourth fiscal quarter ended March 31, 1999. By comparison, Spectrian reported total revenue of $27.6 million for the fourth quarter of fiscal 1998 and $20.7 million for the most recent quarter ended Dec. 27, 1998. The Company also announced that it expects to report a net loss for the quarter of between $1.75 and $1.95 per share fully diluted as compared to a $0.93 loss in the same quarter one year ago and a $0.98 loss in the third fiscal quarter of 1999.

I took an initial position here. The stock is reacting well given the enormity of the earnings miss (although the article doesn't say what operating earnings will be) at down to 8 1/8 on less then twice normal volume and already rebounded to 9 area. Their operating cash flow seems tolerable to me about a loss of 0.60 per share last year. With lots of cash it seems to me that they have the resources to be successful if they want to. (At these prices they could retire half their outstanding stock if they wanted to).

Thanks for the news article,
Garry
