Mark, they said the same about DEC at the time, CPQ, DELL and the list is endless. The networkers are at the top as anyone is thinking that those stocks are the greatest since sliced bread.

For some reason people on this tread completely ignore overseas companies who are competing with LU with.

Some of those telecom amnufacturers are with substantial lower production cost. As to LU they manage their earnings and McGinns is a salesman who puts substantial effort in selling the company stock, not the products.

On a worldwide basis there is growing demand for telecom equipment but so are the new facilities poping up in China, Russia & Eastern Europe and India.

Now I want to hear that they are not technological advanced <GGG> well the news are that on $ per output cost they perform much better than their American counterparts by a mile.

Technology? 6 to 12 months lag which is meaningless in capital equipment with a life span expectancy of around 10 years or more.

As to technological achievements for example Israel is very advanced (population 5.5 million)and they are selling to the higher bidder many of which are Europeans and Asians. As a matter of fact LU paid through the nose for an Israeli outfit.

Only arrogance is pushing the US market up same stary as Japan in 1989, they were arrogant at the time and still pay the price.
