RE:"So if I want to buy, should I go for AMD which holds up or
Intel which is trashed ? BTW, I thought you double your INTC
just below 130 ?

I did... so now I'm underwater on half my investment but the gain since 80 on the other half makes it bearable.

Gary, AMD is forming a nice base in the 15-16 area but I remain skeptical. I'd like to know what earnings number this price has discounted. Jerry has informed everyone that it's going to be a terrible quarter. How much Lawyer CYA is in this? I don't know.
You may have to come to the realization that even though AMD is basing it's still not a good stock to buy. Maybe nothing in the microprocessor sector is.

If I recall, the true scalability and true benchmarks of the P-II were NOT known until its release. The press (Tom included) said it was a blah chip. Meanwhile it widened the MHz race to way in favor of Intel.
Will Coppermine widen the MHz race like the P-II did? Against the K6-2-3 on .25u, I would say it could but the K7 is a different story.
Seems it's design allows to to run at Coppermine speeds on .25u and exceed them on .18u. So even though Intel will jump to .18u ahead of AMD the acceleration gap in clockspeeds won't occur as before and when AMD gets to .18u, they should be ahead. Also the FPU advantage will be reversed.
