To me the hinge word is "availability". I think the availability of these things - self-worth, economic reward, general good karma - is largely in place.
Now broadening self-worth and economic reward (never mind availability - emphasis shifts toward actuality) is often the subtext here. This is a little harder in that it requires focused effort by the proposed beneficiary. This is imho a flaw in the current "self esteem based methods" movement. It tries to elevate self esteem and economic reward from a possibility to an entitlement. That's where I get all soggy and hard to light.
