Tom, Making Dolly didn't really involve any papas. In fact, using cloning technology,
papas are no longer required. The donor cells came from the sheep
milk (mamas only) and the recipient eggs were also female only.
The only potential male involvement was Ian Wilmut (or associated
technicians) who harvested both sets of cells, popped out the egg
nuclei, and zapped the cells to fuse the donor and recipient and
signal cell division. Embryos were then grown in mamas.
