Just so long as you agree that our "arguing" is not about conflict, but about forging ideas.
Different people have different levels of toleration for argument. Up to a point, it is a healthy part of intellectual and cultural housecleaning. But after a highly variable point, it leads to fear, disengagement ... feud. The real trick is in finding that balance. And the real individual virtue is in being elastic about one's own saturation point. No grudges.
This is hard, because trust is as Protean as the ideas we are batting about.
