Well, scholars of the most diverse stripes and across the entire spectrum of biblical commentary, are agreed that by "the law," Jesus meant the Pentateuch and by "the prophets," he meant the books of Joshua, Judges, Samuel, Kings, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and the twelve minor prophets.
In the language I quoted from Matthew 5, 17-19, I don't see how he could have been more sweeping and inclusive in the extent and depth of his endorsement.
