VeriSign and Check Point Software Expand Strategic Alliance to Ease Deployment Of Secure, Manageable VPNS Across Global Networks
Check Point VPN-1 Product Family to Interoperate With VeriSign OnSite April 12, 1999 08:00 AM MOUNTAIN VIEW and REDWOOD CITY, Calif., April 12 /PRNewswire/ -- VeriSign Inc. VRSN , the world's leading provider of Internet trust services, and Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. CHKP , the world's leader in secure enterprise networking, today announced plans to broaden their alliance, accelerating fulfillment of Check Point Software's open PKI initiative and simplifying secure virtual private network (VPN) deployments. Together VeriSign and Check Point Software will provide interoperability of VeriSign's Onsite services with the Check Point VPN-1(TM) product family. In addition, VeriSign will provide a special product evaluation program and training opportunities to further enable rapid deployment of secure enterprise VPNs. The technological advances being made by Check Point Software and VeriSign will make it possible for VeriSign OnSite, a fully-integrated PKI service, to offer digital certificate support for Check Point VPN-1. VeriSign OnSite combines advanced PKI functionality with a global PKI backbone, guaranteeing high-availability enterprise PKI to secure a wide range of intranet, extranet, virtual private networking, and e-commerce applications.

VeriSign will also provide an OnSite for VPN test drive that will give Check Point Software customers access to free 60-day evaluation certificates. This test drive program will simplify enterprises' evaluation of OnSite and speed the deployment of their VPN pilots.
In addition, the alliance between the two companies will include comprehensive training courses from VeriSign's SecureIT division for Check Point Software's security products and their interoperability with VeriSign's PKI services. Finally, VeriSign and Check Point Software will co-host VPN telebriefings designed to educate enterprises about the benefits of VPNs.
