Bookmarks in Win98

I was in the same boat a month ago. New to Win98, never really comfortable with Win31, and quite happy with DOS. Here's my opinion.

Win98 uses 'Favourites' and 'Shortcuts' in a 'funny' way. You have a folder called favourites which contains shortcuts. This is just a collection of files, each one containing a pointer to some web page. Your challenge is to get your SINGLE file of stuff into this new format. I don't know if there is a PROPER way, but if nobody points one out to you try this:

I HAVE NOT TRIED THIS! IT MAY NOT WORK!

A) Open INTERNET EXPLORER
B) Click File | Open | Browse, and find your old bookmark file
(Your bookmarks should display, since they are HTML (I think!))
C) Right click on each bookmark and select 'Add to Favourites'

When you're done, you should have your old favourites available in Win98.

If anyone knows a better way, please let us know. I'm sure we're not the only ones facing this challenge.

Hope this helps, PW.

P.S. This would be a great time to do some housecleaning of old links we never visit any more.
