KD,

On Jan 26th, the BOD of IBM adopted a resolution to split 2:1 from shareholders of record 5/10/99. But, as it says in the current proxy request, the split cannot happen if the shareholders do not respond affirmatively to the request to Amend Article 3 of the IBM Certificate of Incorporation to issue enough shares to cover the split. See page 22 of the current "IBM Notice of 1999 Annual Meeting and Proxy Statement". This should be available on the Edgar and FreeEdgar web sites if you need confirmation.
