arthur...concern about ibm...

good evening my friend...concur completely with ibm ability to take any business off the street at what ever level they want...typical of such a large operation, using the loss leader entry to a client or contract, with hopes to make up on the back end with service, repairs, consultation....gerstner no body's fool, brought in to turn around what fisher couldn't do..a bit of the al dunlop arrogance, much like pfieffer.....what i'm beginning to see what's happening is the initial destabilization of the company, with comments such as "the pc is dead"...this is by no means as it appears on the surface....its an internal message to the pc business group, and a backhand acknowledgement of dell capability...this strategy has been used before...in the recent past by jack welch at ge...it either works bigtime or gives the competitor the tools thru oem and technology purchasing to allow ibm to cannibalize itself...it seems the new/old way of management(old time ruthless, vs gates/grove/dell little less ruthless) of a large corporation is to destabilize, in hopes that it will keep each business group on its toes and profitable...i think the risk is to the account of ibm, especially in the contracts signed with dell and emc...believe dell management will see beyond any potentially detrimental relationships with any "supplier"...even if that "supplier" is big blue...no need to assume anothers liability or workforce, which is not compatible with your culture, if you are growing market share thru your own devices....ed a.
