Speaking in general, it seems to me that the future is clearly going to have a lot of new devices that will be online and either controlling functions or providing information. These devices will either be mobile or fixed.

Whether or not there is a problem with PC vendors or some specific problems that Compaq has yet to be seen, but it seems to me we are going to see a redirection of interest into new areas.

The advances we've seen with companies like Qualcomm and Nokia suggest something. I'm not sure what is the best investment, but it seems that something must be added to my portfolio to take advantage of this great new market.

Any suggestions?

Regards, Mark

PS While I continued to hold my General Magic shares and don't necessarily see them as a good investment this time, I have seen them make an interesting announcement this afternoon. They've been involved with leading-edge development of mobile agent technology. At some point I hope they can make money with it. Perhaps today's announcement will lead to something.

Here is a link to the General Magic WebSite. The CEO writes updates on the announcements and what they could possibly mean. I find it in unusual thing for CEO to do. genmagic.com
