Steve:

Your thoughts regarding MSFT have merit, particularly your comments that RIO would likely be MSFT-compliant.

If you've followed DIMD on & off for some time like I have, you will notice that Schroeder & Co. play very close to the vest of MSFT for DIMD's own comfort in ensuring their hardware is not undermined my new MSFT operating software.

Similarly, with respect to RIO, I am sure Schroeder has a "DSL" to MSFT & its efforts to enter this arena. MSFT is a software company; not a hardware company. While DIMD is not necessarily a hardware company either, it is more a packager & marketer. But you get the picture. Schroeder works his relationship with MSFT & I can envision DIMD releasing a MSFT-compliant version of the RIO. It would also go a long way in chilling whatever merits RIAA thinks it has against DIMD.

JMO.
