DAMN!

PARSIPPANY, N.J., April 12 (Reuters) - Software maker
Dialogic Corp. on Monday said it expects first quarter revenues
and earnings to fall short of analysts' expectations due to
special rules relating to software revenue recognition.
The company, which makes components for computer-based
telecommunications, said the revenue issues deal with its
recent agreement to merge phone and fax functions into
computers with Microsoft Corp. <MSFT.O>
In accordance with the special rules applicable to software
revenue recognition, it will be unable to recognize as revenue
within the first quarter any portion of the $5 million in
licensing payments it has already received.
As a result, the company expects first quarter revenues of
about $72 million and earnings of about $0.29 to $0.30 a share.
Analysts polled by First Call expect the firm to earn $0.37 a
share.
Although the payments will not be reflected in current
revenues and earnings, they will appear on the balance sheet as
deferred revenues and will increase net income in future
periods, the company said.
