Sand Technology Systems: International Truck Manufacturer Deploys Nucleus to Rapidly Integrate SAP R/3 and Microsoft SQL Server Environments for Enterprise Customer Relationship Management System
HOUSTON, TEXAS/LONDON, ENGLAND/MONTREAL, QUEBEC--

Nucleus Speeds Implementation and Improves Analysis of Customer Relationships, Manufacturing Process and Supply Chain Methods for SAP Systems

COMPAQ INNOVATE FORUM '99 - Sand Technology Systems International Inc. (NASDAQ:SNDCF - news) today announced that a major European Supply Chain manufacturer, Lansing Linde, has implemented Nucleus Prototype Mart and Nucleus Exploration Mart for a new corporate Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system. The Nucleus Prototype Mart is used by Lansing to rapidly integrate corporate data stored in SAP R/2, SAP R/3 and Microsoft SQL Server environments. The Nucleus Exploration Mart improves the extensibility of the current SAP and SQL Server systems and increase the speed at which business analysis can be completed for improved customer relationships, manufacturing processes and supply chain methods by over 700 percent. Nucleus quickly proved to executives at Lansing that it would be an essential piece of the new CRM system by delivering the first piece of the integrated CRM environment in only three days and is scheduled to be completed in the next few weeks. Prior to Nucleus, Lansing estimates to complete this CRM system ranged from six to nine months. The Lansing Linde CRM system is currently featured in the United Kingdom issue of Information Week Magazine.

John Spittal, Director of IT and Organization at Lansing states in Information Week, ''To be the market leader and maintain that position we need excellent customer service. It's quite demanding. Today there are eight different computer systems, eight separate truck databases and eight separate parts databases.'' Throughout this implementation, Nucleus proved that it has the resilience to satisfy the needs of both the business user and IT within Lansing, and any other company faced with the integration of the ERP application and RDBMS environments for rapid and accurate business analysis associated with CRM. Mr. Spittal further added in Information Week: ''Unusually for IT, everyone is happy- the engineers love it, and the customers are happy too. Queries that previously took four or five hours were completed in minutes. All the business managers said 'we'll have that'! Can you install it Monday?''

''Improving the overall extensibility of ERP systems like SAP R/3 with the integration of other corporate data repositories is becoming more critical as enterprise initiatives like CRM become more prevalent,'' stated Duncan Painter, European General Manager for Sand. ''Lansing Linde's great success in such a short period of time will provide a proof statement to other companies that Nucleus should be on everyone's short list of products for enhancing ERP systems.''
