Sand Technology Systems Opens European Headquarters
LONDON, ENGLAND/MONTREAL, QUEBEC--SAND TECHNOLOGY SYSTEMS INTERNATIONAL INC. (NASDAQ: SNDCF - news) announced today the official opening of its European headquarters. A wholly-owned subsidiary of the Company based near London, England will be responsible for the sale, marketing and technical support of the award winning Nucleus Prototype Mart and Nucleus Exploration Mart solutions throughout Europe.

Mr. Duncan Painter will lead the business unit as European General Manager. Mr. Painter brings substantial experience in information technology and project implementation to Sand, most recently as Solution Sales and Delivery European Director of Hitachi Data Systems Limited.

Mr. Painter will be responsible for expanding the use of the Nucleus product suite in the United Kingdom and throughout Europe and for satisfying the technical support requirements of end-users, systems integrators, consulting groups and selected hardware and software organizations.

Arthur Ritchie, President and Chief Executive Officer of Sand, said that ''the Company has seen a significant interest in the Nucleus product suite since it was introduced and implemented within a few select organizations in the United Kingdom and Europe where it has achieved outstanding success.''

Mr. Ritchie added that ''expanding the Nucleus Business Partnership Program is also a high priority project in Europe. Already Hitachi Data Systems, Arthur Andersen Business Consulting, Tier Technologies and Concensus Consulting are active participants in this endeavour.''
