Looks like the Fed has licked inflation for awhile and the consumer is still enjoying the benefits of solid job growth and a good domestic economy. No wonder the market looks healthy? <vbg>
Retail Sales for March = + 0.2% The Census Bureau of the Department of Commerce announced today that advance estimates of U.S. retail sales for March adjusted for seasonal, holiday, and trading-day differences, but not for price changes, were $239.6 billion, an increase of 0.2 percent (±0.7%) from the previous month and up 8.7 percent (±0.9%) from March 1998. census.gov
CPI for March = +0.2% On a seasonally adjusted basis, the CPI-U rose 0.2 percent in March, following increases of 0.1 percent in each of the preceding three months.
Core Rate = +0.1% Excluding food and energy, the CPI-U increased 0.1 percent in March, the same as in each of the first two months of 1999. stats.bls.gov:80/news.release/cpi.nws.htm
