Mark and John,
I am under the same impression... Phoenix does not supply CPQ's Commercial Div. with any BIOSs. It was my understanding that the Commercial Div. is where DEC's PC business was absorbed into. That is why the acquisition of DEC, by CPQ, was so unfortunate, and costly, for PTEC.

It is very interesting for me to note that the PC price wars, and the movement to the sub-$1,000 PC market that the industry has been experiencing over the last year or so, was probably initiated by CPQ. CPQ's willingness to incorporate AMD and Cyrix chips into their low-end PCs appears to have been disruptive to their earlier business model when they were selling Intel chips exclusively. This is the second time that CPQ has attempted to incorporate more, and cheaper, AMD chips into their product line. When they last attempted to do the same thing 4 or 5 years ago, it also resulted in their stock price tanking then also.
Regards,
Jules
