JEF. In today's Investor's Business Daily: NYSE Stocks in the News Jefferies Group advanced 3 7/16 to a new closing high of 55 9/16 on twice it usual trade. The stock has been basing for 11 weeks. The Los Angeles based brokerage, once known exclusively for institutional or third market block stock trading, has recently build a corporate finance unit, which deals in high-yield bond underwriting. The company moved into the high-yield market in 1990 with the recruitment of trader and bankers from then-failing Drexel Burnham Lambert. Jefferies Group is set to hold a quarterly earnings conference call this morning at 10:30 a.m. EDT. The conference is open to the public via the Vcall Web site (www.vcall.com). Listeners should got to the Vcall Web site at least 15 minutes before the even to register and install any necessary audio software.
