Let's be clear: While the Sprint statement was not good news, Ciena did not lose its business to Lucent. Sprint has been a heavy buyer of DWDM from Ciena for the last two years--and they have never chosen a second source supplier. They simply have gotten their fill for now, and their purchases in '99 will be mostly upgrades on their installed base. Therefore, Ciena was disclosing that fact in their 8k. If you go to the original source, there is no need to speculate.
