Diamond, Zoom plunge into 56K territory

56K modems are busting out all over.

First, U.S. Robotics Inc.'s "x2" modems began arriving in stores yesterday. Then Motorola Information Systems Group officials said they would ship high-speed modems next week.

Now Diamond Multimedia Systems Inc. and Zoom Telephonics Inc. plan to ship 56K-bps client modems on March 3 and March 16, respectively, according to officials at the companies....
