US workers do work harder. Workers in Germany get six weeks vacation a year. I met some divers from Norway (I believe) when I dived the South China Seas. They also get month or more vacation time. Also, the government pays for a one-month trip to a spa for their arthritis.

If more Americans knew what kind of benefits the workers in other countries got, I think they would be furious because one of the reasons the Germans have had such a high-standard of living is because the US re-built Germany after WWII and the US maintained a military presence in that part of the world so those countries did not have to expend so much money on the military. Therefore, European countries could pamper their citizens. They did not have to pay for an expensive military presence.

When I lived in Canada, the joke was to start a war with the US because the US would re-build the country and the country's citizens would enjoy a higher standard of living.

So through our generous foreign aid we have subsidized all kinds of goodies for people who live abroad, including brothels in Israel which operate legally.

Also, TAXES in Scandanavian countries are VERY, VERY HIGH. So those countries CAN afford to send their citizens to spas for a month. And they don't have too worry about building a hugh military complex. The US is always there.

BUTT if US workers KNEW what workers got in other countries, I think they would demand TAX RELIEF from the US government. After all, what does the US government do for us?????
