So what have I learned? That we couldn't ask for better leadership than we are getting from Jesse. Thanks for the response. That Richard Boulay has a need of well informed investors with a longer term outlook and plenty of goodwill (cash, too) to finance this play and he is not just mouthing techno-babble. I have to recall the last investor meeting I went to (Ashton) in Vancouver some time back. While establishing the presence of diamonds was a good thing for Ashton (re: financing the play), they seemed to be emphasizing the importance of an exploration strategy that works (understanding the geology, for example) and for giving definition to the vast amount of holdings (they pay significant dollars to hold the land) under their control. This may be apparent to geologists but it has been less apparent to me, an ordinary investor who needs some excitement in his portfolio. So,
“If, at Orapa, conventional prospecting and evaluation techniques had been used to define the deposit such as a widely spaced drilling program, neither the correct understanding of the geological model nor the economic potential of the ore body would have been realized.”
Reading the material provided to date provides an excellent background in understanding the difficult task Richard is undertaking. If I follow his thinking, the cost of mining is already mostly understood (i.e.: overburden). That leaves exploration cost - explained frequently on this thread by Jesse to be thought-driven rather than action-driven and therefore cost effective.
How to create significant numbers of longer term shareholders? Building a picture of the geology in Alberta will be expensive as well as long term. Some significant milestones are necessary (visible evidence of diamonds will be nice, but as we have seen at Ashton, this is not guaranteed to build anything but short term trading results) to keep shareholders interested. So, what are the milestones? We have drilled, we will test-pit and we will look at the rock results. Will we have a geological model or will a model unfold (trade secrets aside) as we dig? What else will become a part of the model? Thanks for your patience. 100M shares ++ and holding (my breath) Larry M. |
