Arthur, I think you sell Gerstner short. I just read a piece about him in a textbook (!), and I think he is a much more savvy guy than most people give him credit for. Do you know, for example, that when he came on board IBM with the company bleeding red ink all over the place, that he resisted making any changes until he had read every single internal planning document in the company? True. He spent an entire year doing this. He is not likely to be pushed into action. He is very deliberate and methodical.
