You're sure asking all this stuff of the wrong person. Wish I knew and understood all this. There's so many frequencies and I think each probably has it's own advantages and capabilities. One of these low frequencies the FCC will be opening up is only for short distances and for connecting computers to LANs for instance. I don't think AT&T owns any 38 GHz spectrum although ART ( artelecom.com. ) owns about as much as Winstar and is already working with other phone companies. And if just worrying about all the wireless questions isn't enough, you've got ASDL, ISDN, Cable modems, 56 kbs modems, etc etc etc. It seems about a million companies are getting in on this PCS system, which I guess is the next generation cellular. I think AT&T's wireless system is a take off of their PCS. So the next question I guess is, what's the difference between PCS and Winstars system. But I'm not nervous, we got a couple things going for us. One, management that;s as smart as anyone in the telecommunication field. And two, a huge head start. Winstar will be selling wireless nationwide before the rest of these auctions take place. And then it's going to take people years and tons of money to catch up with Winstar. All these law suits between the local and long distance companies are just widening Winstars lead. And there is tons and tons of profit to make in the phone business, video on demand, video phones, etc. A company as small as Winstar only needs a small piece of this pie to make us all rich. |
