Have you considered this strategy?

If you like a stock and you think the stock may be overpriced, then buy it and sell the Call options to limit your downside.

If you like a stock and think it is fairly priced, and would like to have it for the long term, then just buy it and stash it away.

If you like a stock and think it is temporarily undervalued, buy short term Call option. If you don't like to take short term risks, buy the Year 2000 or 2001 LEAPS.

If you chose option 1 -- Buy at $300 and sell the Sept, $300 Call, you pocket $76, which is not bad return on investment, plus you are covered even if the stock drops to $224.
