Hey, CB, who says I like you? <VBG>

We all have prejudices, both for and against all sorts of people. The point is, do we let those prejudices blind us?

Louis Farrakhan is prejudiced against anyone who is not black; he is also prejudiced in favor of anyone who is black; on both sides, he is blinded by his prejudice.

I prejudge on the basis of intelligence (no, I am not Susie Sugarshorts in disguise!), but I do not let this prejudice form my behavior. I have known plenty of not terribly bright people who have other valuable qualities that I treasure.

Many people who are prejudiced against blacks and Jews and Asians and who knows what else undoubtedly have plausible explanations. I have no problem with their prejudices. I have a problem with bigotry and I have a problem with a person's putting his private prejudices into action against someone else. And I feel pity for anyone who blinds himself with his prejudices.
