stock quotes, and a major firm not already online is going to want to put up a site that's at least as good as Schwab's. On that score I'm sorry to say that FlexQuote is not in contention. Just my opinion of course but if you think about it you might end up agreeing

The fact remains as you've stated that putting up an investment web site is financially draining (and personally, I doubt anyone's made any money off the web at this point). You covered two possibilities -- majors want a site as good as Schwabs and therefore won't take FlexQuote, and minors that won't do a web site because it's too expensive.

I'm of the opinion that those minors that won't do a web site because of a lack of resources, will be able to use FlexQuote in its place because of its cost effective structure. In fact, FlexQuote can be easily modified to accept trade requests over a secure socket layer, if that functionality is deemed necessary to stay competitive.

I agree FlexQuote in its current condition does not look as flashy or slick as a dynamic web site. However, it is my belief that these client-server applications that run independently of the web will gain popularity because of the effiency of data transfer (at least until everyone has a T1 connection to their home). I'm trust now that Sinclare has the financial resources to continue development, that FlexQuote will be upgraded as appropriate.
