Ramsey, I went looking for the admission criteria for the WTO without success. According to Washington Week in Review last Friday, China did not meet the economic requirements and therefore various White House officials recommended against admission. The point of my post was that no one was mentioning that and everyone seemed to be focusing only on the politics--as if the U.S. decision was solely political. I saw a snippit on the news tonight of, I believe, Congressional testimony. Trade Rep was saying that they could not negotiate details fast enough and it would take more time.
