John,

One other thing to consider....funded ATIS study just hit The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery.

"A living cartilage/bone construct developed and maintained its structure throughout the 40-week study, and provides evidence that whole joint structures can potentially be created by using a combination of cells and biodegradable polymers. The success of this research helps to demonstrate the feasibility of replacing total joints with living tissue engineered constructs in the future."

Extremely interesting, especially for the long-term. There should be little need for artificial joints 10 years and beyond from now if all pans out, except maybe in acute situations. Of course, managed care on the other hand.......We'll cover a right knee, but no left knees unless you can show us that a right knee has failed first! :)

Regards,

Marshall
