As I have posted a couple of times on this thread, JDS, which reports after the close tomorrow, will, I believe, handily beat the consensus estimate of C$0.27, which is what the company earned last quarter, beating estimates by a few Canadian cents. JDS is rapidly expanding its physical plant and hiring.
By all means, JDS will be accretive to UNPH. In fact, JDS' earnings will make the JDS-UNPH earnings look more credible on a share price to EPS basis. Am fortunate to have bought both last summer, sold the modest UNPH position in the LTCM meltdown and had to buy it back two weeks later as the market turned.
Btw, if JDS UNPH merger is structured as a pooling of interests, UNPH will carry no good will on its books attributable to JDS. But I am not sure that it is not being structured as a purchase. "Oh Canada...!"

PS. One negative note. Our neighbors in the north will not allow individual investors to participate in the earnings conference call. Only for the big boys. Tsk! Tsk! |
